Concierge Services In a Downturn - Luxury or Necessity?

With all this talk of credit crunches and economic downturns, many of us in the UK are thinking about how to tighten the belt a bit. The magazines are full of tips on how to shop and eat more cheaply; perhaps we won’t be frequenting our favourite restaurant so often. Update last season’s outfits with new accessories, rather than splurging on designer labels. Holiday at home this summer. Cut back on the luxuries.

At first glance, the services of a Personal Concierge would seem to be a luxury we can do without. However, for some people, just the opposite may be true. Here are three scenarios:

The Smith family have always had a live-in housekeeper. However Mr Smith works in the financial sector and his position may not be as secure as it was; they have decided to let the housekeeper go, and instead employ concierge services as and when they need them.

Mr Jones has a small business with several employees, and is trying to cut his costs. He used to have a full-time member of staff as an office/marketing manager; he has now let that staff member go, has spread much of the work across his remaining staff and is buying concierge services as and when needed to cover the rest.

Ms Brown is determined to use the downturn to focus on growing her business, so that she is poised for success when things look up. She does not want to be distracted from this goal by domestic admin, so is employing concierge services when she needs them.

In all these cases concierge services represent a more effective and cost-efficient way to get stuff done. If any of these scenarios ring a bell with you, give Personal Equilibrium a call!
